All public, ticketed events are subject to a 3% ticketing fee.
Parking Advisory
Please note that Ocean Institute's parking lot is reserved for Ocean Institute and Coffee Importers guests only. Ocean Institute's parking lot and surrounding public lots operate on a first-come, first-served basis. During the busy summer season, parking availability can be limited. We recommend arriving early to allow ample time to find parking.
Refunds will not be issued due to a lack of available parking.

Our rotating monthly exhibits allow visitors to keep coming back to discover the ocean’s underwater world with our fun, interactive spaces and activities that indulge curiosity. Staff and volunteers stand ready to guide visitors through a wide range of experiences as they gain an understanding of their connection to the ocean!

Ahoy mateys! You are invited to sing sea shanties with the pirate band, Queen Anne’s Blouse, on the Spirit of Dana Point, as she sets out to sea!
Set sail aboard the schooner Spirit of Dana Point and experience California from the water!This is your opportunity to dress, talk, and sing like a pirate. Bring your family and friends and enjoy singing along to classic and original sea shanties based on our fascinating maritime history. Get an introduction to the life of a sailor on a tall ship. Learn nautical terms and phrases. Hear stories about the legendary sea cave, Richard Henry Dana Jr., and the real pirate who attacked San Juan Capistrano in 1818.

Learn about the remarkable ability of some marine animals to glow in the dark and witness this curiously beautiful phenomenon.
The tour is recommended for ages six and up. All participants must be comfortable in the water and able to swim. Guests must secure their own transportation to the snorkel site.
Light snacks & Refreshments available for purchase at event.
Closed-toed, Closed-heeled sturdy shoes are required. We recommend sunscreen, light layers, and water.
